For a useful hydrostatic head result, record the test area, pressure gradient, stopping criterion and pressure units alongside the fabric identification. On the FX 3000 Hydro Tester IV, clamp the specimen evenly to limit lateral water leakage; pneumatic clamping assistance is available on some models. Choose the model and clamping arrangement for the material and test method, and compare results only when the recorded test conditions and endpoint are consistent.

FX 3000 Hydro Tester IV assesses the water penetration resistance of fabrics such as rainwear, outdoor gear and technical textiles. In a rising-pressure test, the recorded pressure depends on the chosen test endpoint, so first-drop and later-drop results should be distinguished. With the optional Automatic Drop Detector, the test stops when the preset number of water drops has penetrated the sample and displays the result.
